Mardi Gras Comedy Challenge Finals

Comedic icon Bobby Collins hosted the finals of the 1st ever Mardi Gras Comedy Challenge October 6th, 2011 at our Dawg House Sports Bar. The comedy challenge began in August 2011 when hundreds of comics auditioned for a chance to open for comedy legend Paula Poundstone at our world famous Hollywood Florida Racetrack on October 22nd, 2011. The 40 comics who survived the initial audition stage went on to compete for our judges throughout August and September. The five qualifying rounds were hosted by hilarious comics included Marion Grodin, Lady Roz G, Sarge, Eddie Brill and Michele Balan. The five surviving contestants along with one wild card chosen by the public competed on October 6th, 2011 in the finals hosted by Bobby Collins. The winner of the Mardi Gras Comedy Challenge received a dream come true 30 minutes opening for Paula Poundstone outdoors at our spectacular Hollywood Racetrack grandstand—the oldest of it's kind in the world.

Bobby Collins hosted the Smile 4 Laughs Comedy Night at Mardi Gras Florida Casino in 2010 an it was a roaring success. Approximately 1,200 guests came to see comedians Bobby Collins and Doug Schnetzka. Benefitting Big Bike Rider's Children's Foundation and Miami Children's Hospital/Dan Marino Foundation. Smiles 4 Laughs was a Comedy Night & Art Auction starring Bobby Collins and Doug Schnetzka to benefit The Miami Children's Hospital/Dan Marino Center in Weston, FL.

Comedy legend Bobby Collins has been taking funny business very seriously for over 30 years. Over the course of his career he has starred in his own Showtime Special, hosted VH1's "Stand-up Spotlight," and opened for other legendary performers like Cher, Dolly Parton, Julio Inglesis and Tony Bennett. His second comedy CD "Out Of Bounds," earned him a Grammy nomination. Bobby has appeared in five feature films and numerous television shows and continually performs live in New York, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City.

The first thing a fly on the wall at a Bobby Collins show would notice is that half the audience is reciting parts of Bobby's act from memory. Fans for years, these folks have seen him on TV and live before. Many of the newbies are there because they've heard him on satellite radio or have been exposed to the tremendous word of mouth that sells out his shows or have been given his CDs by a member of his enthusiastic fan base. They are longing to see him in person and in action . . . and action is what they get!
